Trends in the Workplace As an HR professional, I am responsible for interviewing and selecting candidates, appraising employee performance, recommending pay increases and promotions, being able to communicate policies and practices all while motivating employees with pay, benefits, and other rewards. I am also responsible for ensuring organizations know how to fully respond to evolving trends, are complying with federal and state regulations, and know how to manage workplace flexibility. Technology today is growing at a rapid speed and this is causing global environment changes; which needs to be addressed as soon as possible in order to prevent any issues.

Specify the key functional areas of Human Resources Management. Explore the manner in which each function contributes to the overall performance of an organization. Support your response with specific examples of the activities for which HRM is typically responsible.

Human Resources Management (HRM) is the policies, practices, and systems that influence employee’s behaviors, attitudes, and performance (Noe, 2013). HRM has six functional areas: employment, employee relations, training/development, compensation, benefits, and labor relations. Employment is typically responsible for recruiting, job postings, interviewing, testing, coordinating the use of temporary labor. This area is very important and needs a lot of focus on in order to stay on top and recruit the top talented recruits. Employee Relations handles the attitude surveys, labor relations, employee handbooks, company publications, labor law compliances, relocations, and outplacement services. The system can be used to track people who have visited for the recruitment process, candidates from consultancies and their resumes, a list of candidates who are available for part time and full time work etc. This system can be integrated with training management to link with the initial process of the selected candidates. The next function to be affected is payroll. This would keep track of employee’s attendance and their time of entry to work and exit are entered into the system to determine the number of hours worked. It could track checks and reports both the hours of work and respective wages of each employee. It also includes the process of calculating the taxes and deducts from the salary and also garnishees wages for charitable purpose like child support and additional taxes withheld. This system may be time consuming but it is free of errors. The last function affected is work performance. The MRP system will basically maintain the history of employee’s performance and determines the number of employees eligible for reaching a certain level of hierarchy. It will also entail the performance goals of what is expected for each employee and how much is expected of them. In this paper I will discuss the women and their difficulties as there were basic rights which were being denied and discriminated against in the workplace during 1960 through 1980. As a setback that women faced in the 1960s and the early 1980s were that men realized what women were trying to do as much as they could, but men wanted to keep fully qualified women out of their workplace. During the early the 1960s, many changes were put in place to help women get to the top in a sense it would be fair to say that women as individuals have always been viewed as the underdog to a man especially in the workplace.
