Why am I here? In personal growth 120 I want to learn about all the resources that are available to me and how to use them. So far I have the financial aid available to me. I also applied for the EOPS and CARE program. I’ve learned that there are many clubs that I can join.
Emotionally I would like to be as excited and motivated as I am now. I hope it doesn’t fade away. I am doing this for myself but I would like to make those who love me proud. I want to keep going and excited in every class regardless of all the obstacles I know might come ahead. There is no easy road and if it seems easy that means you are on the wrong one.
Academically I would like myself to be in a “B” average since I am looking to transfer to SDSU. Push myself to earn above average grades to prove to myself I can do this. I know that if I give myself enough time to study I can do this. Physically I would like to be able to control my stress levels because it often leads to migraines. I might work on weight control as well since all be doing lots of exercise by climbing so many stairs and walking long distances.
Spiritually I would like to be more involved in my church since I will have much to give thanks for. I am Catholic. Giving thanks to God is one way to help me count my blessings. My two beautiful kids are my biggest blessing.
My plan to get to these goals are to have lots of patience and be able to divide my time wisely because besides being a student I am also a mother, homemaker, daughter, and an employee. It’s a working progress but soon I will have it down. I have just asked to have less hours off from work to be able to accomplish my goals. I am very willing to make this commitment to myself. I believe that right now is the perfect time to make big and beautiful changes to my life.
For this journey I will have to…...

...Ethics, Who am I? How did I get here? Diana Maionchi GCU Ethics NURS 437V Professor Jean Gordon September 1, 2012 Ethics, Who am I? How did I get here? We are born with familial genes but whom we are is greatly influenced by our physical surroundings, our parents or family, and our cultural and spiritual beliefs. I have been fortunate enough to be born in the United States, which has provided me with many riches in life to include education. This education provides me with the resources necessary to make sound clinical decisions about my nursing practice. My morality is based on guidelines that have become a natural language and behavior that has instilled how things ought to be and society has accepted. (Purtilo & Doherty, 11/2010, p. 6) I am a practicing Catholic, which deeply influences how I respect life and how I contribute to the community in which I live. Christian values and morals are guiding principles, which help us lead our community and make it strong. As stated in the Bible, “In order for God’s word to take root, believers must do more than merely listen to it. They must act upon it.” (King James, 1:17-18) Simple guiding principles such as these lead us in life, community and our professions. When we provide care we are not only using our clinical skills we are using moral ethical thought to assist us in what is right or wrong for our patients. Has the physician really listened to what the patient is stating their desires are? We are with our......

Why I Am Thankful

...Why I am Thankful What being thankful means to me is to see everything as a gift from God. I see my very life as a gift from God, and I am so thankful just because he lets me wake up every day. He has always provided for me with everything that I need so I never need to worry because he takes care of me. I am so thankful that my parents can afford to pay for my school, for my teachers, and for my close friends. I thank God for helping me get through my struggles. I thank God for the loving family I have. I have so much to be thankful for. My life wouldn't be the same without the people that have shaped and molded my character. They have helped me succeed, and for that, I am thankful. I think it is important to be humble, and remember all of the people that helped me get to where I am, whether it's my parents, my siblings, my close friends or even God. Being thankful is being able to not focus on the hardships of life, and instead acknowledging everything in my life that has made it better. I am thankful to God and my family, and my friends, and even my teachers for helping me improve my life. Being thankful to me is appreciating everything God has given me. I think it means counting all of my blessings and being grateful for all the wonderful things in my life. Being thankful to me means stopping to realize I have a wonderful supportive family as well as really good friends who care and love me very much. I am glad to know I have so many wonderful and loving people......

Why I Am Where I Am

...years of schooling I have always had the worst exsperience. I was teased all my years of elementry, middle school I was ignored, high school I was the "GEEK" who wore her mothers and sisters clothing. It seems like I have never had a break. I was never able to concentrate on school because I was just always worried about what everyone was saying about me. I was in and out of school, skipping class, hiding in bathrooms just to ignore the akward step of walking into a classroom. I never had anyone to talk to about these things, so I just kept everything inside of me. My mother "then", was not focused on us. She didnt wake us up in the mornings, she didnt get us ready for school, she wouldnt take us to school if we missed the bus. My second oldest sister did all of those things. If we missed the bus I remember having to run across the highway, and this is elementry and middle school days, to catch the bus before it went around the turn around. I never had someone forcing me to go to school or help me through my troubled years. I had to learn to coop on my own and get through things on my own. By the time I got into highschool i just didnt care anymore, I started hanging out with the wrong people doing things that I shouldnt have been doing having to switch schools countless times all eventually led me to just dropping out of high school. By this time, I was 18 and I was forced to live with my boyfriend and his family because of my mother kicking me out right when I turned 18.......

I Am What I Am

...“I Am What I AM” is a musical which was on shown in January in Sheung Wan Civic Centre. The story of the musical is actually a real-life story adapted from a Singapore transgender person, Abigail, about making a tough decision of being loyal to her true gender. Abigail’s frustration of whether to take the Sex Reassignment Surgery (“SRS” for short) or not was exquisitely presented in the musical, so as to communicate with the audience and encourage them to have an in-depth review about the related issue. Why Abigail hopes to be a female rather than a male? To uncover the underlying reasons, let’s start with knowing more about her life in early stage. Being born as a boy, Abigail felt that he was a girl deeply inside his mind. Liked other normal little girls, he loved playing Barbie dolls and doll’s houses. Presenting girls’ characteristics in his childhood gave him a derogatory nickname, “Girlish Boy”, which was frequently called by his classmates in primary school. Trying to conceal his female mind, Abigail always made himself looks like stronger, self-reliant through behaviors, thoughts but seems that was not successful. His classmates continued to laugh at him with offensive languages. When he grew up, he felt much more natural and comfortable to play with girls while sensed shy to play with boys. In Singapore, boys who aged 18 had to serve their duty in military. During that period, Abigail took baths in late evening after all the other soldiers took their baths. It......

Why I Am a Radical Non Environmentalist

...Why I am a radical non environmentalist In my opinion, global warming is greatly over-exaggerated political issue that does not deserve the media attention that it receives. A plan to reduce consumption in order to prevent the overuse of resources is only effective if the entire global population agrees to abide by this. Global warming and sustainable development are strictly First World Country issues and seeing as the majority of the earth’s population does not fall within this category, my efforts to contribute to the decrease in climate change is obsolete. It is evident that change can only be established if every citizen in the world is willing to make an effort, and since this is not the case, I do not feel the need to participate. Though some may believe that every bit makes a difference, I am not one of these people. Aside from this, the issue of pollution contributing to global warming and climate change is blown out of proportion. I believe that pollution by big corporations is necessary to maintain our current standards of living. Also, without the existence of negative externalities, governments would not receive the extra funds used to support our universal health care system and our Canadian tax rates would increase further. A study done back in 2008 shows that the average temperature 1000 years ago was higher than it is now. Much of the predictions to climate change are from global climate computer models where in many scientist’s eyes are too crude to......

Why Am I Here

...Why am I Here? The decision to further my education was made long before I completed high school; however, at the time I did not have the resources at my disposal to achieve my life goals. In conversations I had with individuals that I surrounded myself with I realized that furthering my education should be a top priority. The decision was made to join the armed services which had a huge impact on my life. Not only did the rigors of military life provide me with the discipline that I would need to succeed, but it would eventually avail a litany of resources thereby enabling me to pursue select long and short-term goals such as purchasing property and building a home. Over the years I’ve been motivated by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and by living vicariously through family, friends, and their college experience(s). Along comes the Great Recession; a period in our history that continues to impact every hard working American and the global society. The unfortunate events leading up to the recession and the subsequent implosion of the economy, if you will, forced me to seriously ponder my future. Why now? “Why not?” would be the easiest way to answer that question, but the more obvious answer is the fulfillment of my goals. You see I never gave up on them I just chose another route. I envision a better quality of life following successful completion of my degree program that will not only affect me but family and friends. I presume that more opportunities will present......

Why I Am in College

...attending College? Ever since I have been attending college all I hear is all my professors ask, why we are attending college? I have thought about it really well. At first I was attending college to please my parents. Then I had a baby and as she is growing and time passes by I see that economically everything is going up. In reality I know why I am attending college. I am in college to improve my economic status, be an example for my children, and to achieve my life goal of being a petroleum engineer. As I was growing up, I seen my parents struggle in paying bills. At times we would have our light cut off and be running extension wires from our neighbor home to ours in order to manage, until we had the money for the bill. I also recall asking for things and my mother saying, Sorry sweaty we don’t have enough or we can’t afford it. Now that I am a father myself, I don’t want my children to feel the burden I felt just because my parents weren’t financially stable. Don’t get me wrong I had a wonderful child hood but there were moments that I wish I could have a certain object. I just would like to provide for my children and still have a little extra in my pocket just in case of any financial instability or purpose. The second reason I am attending college is to be a great example for my children. Neither my father nor mother attended College or graduated for High school. So far I am the only one who has graduated from high school and I want to be able to graduate......

Why I Am a Formalist

...appeals to me is like asking whether or not I want the recipe to the food I really like. Yes, the food still tastes good without knowing the details, but it makes it even more delicious when I know them, and I can understand why it tastes the way it does. The formalist approach to literary analysis gives you more insight to understanding the piece of literature as a whole. Similarly, when you eat something, such as a slice of pizza, you are eating many parts of a whole. Dough, cheese, marinara, and pepperonis are examples of these parts. Relatedly, these components of the literature could be things like historical context, author, and/or symbolism. Biting into that mouthwatering pizza would not be the same without all of those ingredients. It is better to understand where all the tastes are coming from. Knowing why the author writes the way he or she does or knowing how the setting affects the characters’ values can really make a difference in your ability to comprehend and break down all of the little details. It is these things that make reading more enjoyable, more so than just reading what is in front of me. With the reader response method, I can get much more meaning out of literature and sometimes even more meaning out of life. The formalist approach does not appeal to me because I do not just want to see something at face value. In short, the pizza would not taste the same without all of the different flavors, so why would I not find the recipe and figure out......

Reason Why I Am Going to the College

...ENC 1101 Spring Essay #1 1/20 2014 The Reason Why I Am Attending College The reason for attending college are probably just like everyone else’s. I went to college because I wanted a better life for myself. I’d like to find a job and have a wonderful life. I am an international student majoring in dance from Taiwan. My country’s dance doesn’t have a chance to be appreciated, so I tried and moved to another country, which its dance is famous, and appreciate on international. My plan is to graduate from college and receive diploma so that I can enter a famous dance company or get a job about dancing, and that’s why I am attending college, even more than is the main reason why I am attending college. The second reason was that I wanted to get a better education more that high school. If I am the boss of the company, I won’t hire the people who just have high school diploma. My final reason is that I wanted to have college experience. I was glad that I can enter the college, so why I don’t take it and enjoy the real college’s life. The high school experience can’t satisfy me, and this is my chance, and I want to take it. My main reason to attend college is for getting a better life. Who Am I? Why Am I Here?

...Who Am I? My name is xxxxxxxxx and I am a woman originally born in the city of xxxxxx, xxxxx. I came to the United States at age five and I recently became xxx years old on my birthday, this past xxxx x, xxxx. As a woman of Hispanic origin, I am very rich in Latin and Central American Indian culture. I grew up with my mom and aunts speaking a derivative of Pig Latin. I have a Spanish style of cooking and mostly all my plates are xxxxxx dishes. I may have grown up in the states all my life, but I’m almost 100% rooted in Spanish customs. As a person, I identify myself as a child of God. Spiritually, I am always seeking knowledge and wisdom since I believe it comes from God. My faith is deeply rooted in my confession, that I am a spirit who will one day return to my maker. Holding such a belief has its advantages. For example, I generally do not abide by society’s norm of what I should be, or my role in life. I also believe that if I’m still here, there’s work to be done. I love to explore Biblical concepts and beliefs. As a mother I am an attentive soul. I’m always looking out for my children and their personal interest. I like to give them their space, but yet hold them accountable. I tend to be conservative with my children and do not try to push them beyond their limits. To me, being who we are and doing what we do, just as we choose whether to build a relationship with God, is a very personal matter. While most people do not like my parenting style, I think it’s......

Here I Am on Earth Trying to Determine If the People Here Are Religious or Not??

...Here I am on Earth trying to determine if the people here are religious or not?? Here I am on Earth trying to determine if the people here are religious or not. Three things I am looking for are prayer to a higher entity, sacrifice, and public acknowledgment of their god in ways other than prayer. The clues I am now assessing include people attending their houses of worship, people wearing crosses around their necks as jewelry, and people with their heads bowed in prayer. These people with their heads bowed in prayer have so many variations in their actions. Some people are at their dinner table praying, some people kneel on the ground in a line with other people five times per day to pray, and some bow their heads and put their hands together, and use a string of beads to pray with. The earthlings seem to practice sacrifice openly and variably. They are not, perhaps, killing a goat, burning it, and attempting to give it to the deity, but instead, people are sacrificing personal actions. The man who used to steal does not steal anymore, hoping this sacrifice will please his god. So it is with the woman who used foul words heavily in speech. She now, however, is trying to give up (sacrifice) her obscene language because she feels like she cannot reap the benefits of being a servant of her god if her language is not pure. She does not want to grieve her higher being, so she sacrificed her abhorrent language. Sacrifice occurs in Buddhism when practicing Sutra and......
