A Night Till You Drop

...HOT NIGHT TILL YOU DROP 2013 The 2013 FHM 100 Sexiest victory party held Wednesday at the World Trade Center in Pasay felt at times like a beauty pageant with the hopefuls parading in their national costumes—a Swiss milkmaid, Korean royalty, an American Indian … Then they disrobed, revealing flimsy, barely-there bikinis, and all hell broke loose. A super hot night!. The show opened with scantily-clad models obviously out to fulfill myriad male fantasies— women in military uniforms or Japanese seifuku and kimonos. There were cowgirls, French maids, race-car drivers and baton-wielding policewomen. But it was the ones with nearly nothing on who sent the testosterone-heavy crowd to the edge. A voluptuous model came out wearing only black thongs and tiny pasties on her ample busts. The men, necks craned, rose from their seats, and started Shooting. As she walked down the lengthy catwalk, hordes of cameras, zooming in to who knew where, followed her every step of the way till she struck a pose at the end. Aubrey Miles opened the main show, looking like a naughty queen in a red suit with matching cape. She made her entrance on a moving throne decked with palm leaves. Meanwhile, the Brazilian bombshell Daiana Menezes briefly stole the scene when she showed off her trim waist in a bright pink two-piece, and drew cheers louder than stars far more famous than her did. Other eye-catchers onstage were Rufa Mae Quinto, Jinri Park, Gwen Garci, Saicy Aguila, Ornussa Cadness, Roxee B....

Drop Outs

...This essay is about high school drop-outs and why it is a major problem for our youth. Drop-outs are faced with unnecessary challenges that could have been avoided if they stayed in school and graduated. The age that people drop out of school is about when they are about 16 or 17 years old. In the last 20 years the earnings level of dropouts doubled, while it nearly tripled for college graduates. Recent dropouts will earn $200,000 less than high school graduates, and over $800,000 less than college graduates, in their lives. Dropouts make up nearly half the heads of households on welfare. Dropouts make up nearly half the U.S’s population. It has been known for many years that young people who complete high school don’t face many more problems in later life than do people who graduate. But it is not always a negative influence in a person’s life if they drop out. It mostly depends on what field of work labor you’re trying to pursue that if dropping out will help or hurt you. Dropping out can be successful if they try to be hip-hop arts or if they go into the army. There are some other jobs that people who doped out can have but the jobs aren’t any thing to brag about. Plus being a drop-out it is hard to have a family because you are trying to live off of minimum wage. It is not all that difficult to know why people drop out of school. Here are some reasons why people leave school before they graduate. Didn't like school in general or the school they were attending....

Cvs Caremark to Drop Tobacco

...and Introduction of CVS Caremark Decision On February 5th CVS Caremark announced that they would cease the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products in its stores. This measure is scheduled to begin by October 1, 2014. Once this action is taken, CVS Caremark will be the first national pharmacy chain to drop the sale of tobacco products. The President and CEO of CVS Caremark, Larry Merlo, stated the following, "Ending the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products at CVS/pharmacy is the right thing for us to do for our customers and our company to help people on their path to better health." Tobacco sales represent $2 billion in annual revenue for CVS Caremark. This is causing many to question if this is a good move for CVS Caremark. Analyzing this Decision with Respect to Key Stakeholders It seems crucial to analyze the aforementioned decision with respect to three key stakeholders. The stakeholders that will be analyzed are CVS Caremark employees, shareholders, and customers. This is not an exhaustive list of stakeholders, but it represents fundamental primary stakeholders. Employees of CVS Caremark have a significant stake in the company’s decision to drop the sale of tobacco products. Some employees may fear the significant profit loss that this decision represents. This fear would likely be compounded by the lack of details that CVS Caremark has provided on how they will combat this profit effect. Danielle Marcus, a spokeswoman for CVS Caremark, stated that......

College Drop Out

...ITT-TECH FLUNK OUT MS. SKINNER [Type the author name] 8/5/2013   In the evolving social climate of today’s society, the importance of higher education is being stressed more than ever. It is becoming increasingly rare to procure a well-paying occupation without first obtaining a college degree. However, college administrators estimate that almost a third of all college students drop out of school sometime during their freshmen year. There are a variety of factors that influence a student’s likelihood to drop out of college, including financial, personal, and work-related issues. One of the most common reasons students drop out of college is financial complications. With government funding dropping, colleges rely largely on higher student tuitions. A study in 2011 estimated the average cost of attending a four-year college to be $8,244 for in-state students and $12,526 for out-of-state students. For many students, such a gratuitous amount of money is simply unattainable. (Hardin, 2007) In addition, because many individuals without college degrees are limited to minimum wage jobs, even working students are often unable to fund their educations due to low incomes. If a student does not receive financial aid or parental support, they are even less likely to be able to afford the ever-rising cost of higher education. Once a student experiences the inflated price of college tuition and supplies, dropping out may become a financial necessity. ...

Drop Out Rate

...obtain a high school diploma. Our greatest defense in a global economy is an educated work force and having our young adults choose to drop out of high school poses a threat to the country's strength and prosperity. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the group of non-graduates will continue to rise unless extreme improvements take place, especially in the state of California. Rubidoux High School (RHS) is one of three comprehensive high schools’ within the Jurupa Unified School district (JUSD). The graduation rate for RHS for the 2008-2009 school years was 72.3% and the state of California’s average for the 2008-2009 school years was 78.6% (Jurupa Unified School District, n.d., p. 16). If the Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD) better identified social, economic, and demographic factors and provide stronger intervention programs then they will decrease their dropout rate. Keeping Our Young Adults in School: It is possible Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the dream of every parent for their newborn child; however, they should add an educated life to that list. The dropout rate has been a recurring problem in our country; the numbers are there to support the awareness of the problem. Recent reports indicate that more than half a million young people drop out of high school each year, and the rate at which they drop out has remained about the same for the last 30 years (Dynarski et al., 2008). According to the U.S. Department of Education, the......

Drop Outs

...October 2007, the proportion of non-institutionalized 18-24 year olds not in school without a diploma or certificate was 8.7%. Status dropout rates are much higher for racial/ethnic minorities (21.4% for Hispanics and 8.4% for Blacks vs. 5.3% for Whites). In general, males are more likely to be dropouts than females (9.8% vs. 7.7%), but teenage pregnancy and parenthood are particularly strong risk factors for young women, especially in the United States (Dalton, Glennie, & Ingels, 2009). In fact, only about 50% of American teen mothers receive a high school diploma by age 22 (Perper, Peterson, & Manlove, 2010). Event dropout rates illustrate single year dropout rates for high school students and show that students from low-income households drop out of high school more frequently than those from more advantaged backgrounds (8.8% for low-income vs. 3.5% for middle income and 0.9% for high income students). Further, the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network reports that school dropouts in the United States earn an average of $9,245 a year less than those who complete high school, have unemployment rates almost 13 percentage points higher than high school graduates, are disproportionately represented in prison populations, are more likely to become teen parents, and more frequently live in poverty (2009). The consequences of school dropout are even worse for minority youth, further exacerbating the economic and structural disadvantages they must often face (e.g., Sum,......

...to reduce his academic load and skip classes because of his part-time jobs. “Sometimes, I go directly to class from a field trip without sleep. I cannot afford to give up my jobs since I have to raise at least P13,000 ($238.66, based on an exchange rate of P54.47 per U.S. dollar) for my tuition alone every semester. Aside from that, there are a lot of things that you need to pay to live here in Manila,” he said in Filipino. The same was true for Alpha Carole Pontalan, a sophomore student at the University of the Philippines’ College of Law who filed a leave of absence this semester and now works for a call center. She said she had to stop schooling for a while to support her family in Bicol and save for her future expenses in law school. The drop-out raceA study by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in 1997 revealed that one in four barangays has no elementary schools, depriving some 1.6 million children of basic education. A third of the country’sbarangays do not even have complete elementary schools, making primary education still inaccessible. The average elementary cohort survival rate for the Philippines was 68.6 percent in 1997.This means that out of a hundred who enter Grade I, only 68 of them normally finish Grade VI.Survival rate in high school also showed a slight decline, from 74.7 percent in 1983-1984 to 73.3 percent in 1995-1996. This rate indicates that roughly a quarter of first year high school students do not reach the fourth year level. The Functional Literacy......

Medium Voltage Motor Starters

...Medium Voltage Motor Starter Name: Course Title: Professor’s Name: Abstract This paper purposes to examine general considerations in the design of 4160V motor starters into the switchgear. Particular focus is on the safety, maintenance, protection coordination, and operation impacts of including the 4160VMedium Voltage Motor Starter, into switchgears of important systems. In light of the above, this paper will present an analysis of some of the best practices and techniques used to design Medium Voltage (MV) motors. This encompasses the critical considerations made for medium voltage switchgear commonly found in generation power plants and safe class facilities such as nuclear plant. The primary focus is on power system facilities that are intolerable to any form of power interruptions. Such facilities in areas of utility, industrial, commercial, and residential applications require power systems that have the capacity to provide safe and reliable energy for the utilization of equipment. Since the other earlier designs specifications of MV motor starter already exist, this paper essentially emphasizes the advantages in designing 4160V MV motors starters into MV switchgears with protective relays, switch and circuit breaker control circuits, and solid-state power. Discussions made include the advantages of integrating MV starters in the 4160V switchgear, with regard to fault clearance, maintenance, down time, and operations. The paper summary includes......

Drop Drag and Spray Models

...Drop Drag And Spray Models Abstract This paper reviews and critiques the published work of Liu et al, “On modeling the effect of drop drag and breakup on Fuel Sprays”. A dynamic drop drag model (DDM) has been coupled to the (TAB) and (KH) spray models. The interaction the (DDM) with these models provides insight into the phenomenon of drop drag and the atomization process. Due to the interaction of the parent drop during interaction with the spray, it is shown that the KH model must be adjusted to account for drag. The (TAB) model, however, remains unaffected by drag given the formulation of its breakup mechanism. The (DDM) also shows that the standard drag model underestimates drop size. And lastly, a critique of the ineffectualness of drop drag on penetration is presented. Introduction Recent studies estimate that twenty-five percent of the world’s energy comes from fuel spray combustion [4]. Given the impact of sprays on the energy industry, spray optimization is crucial to supply the growing demand for energy. Spray and atomization science developed from the ideas prominent scientist like Rayleigh, Kelvin and Helmholtz who were studying liquid jet break-up mechanisms. All modern models incorporate their work in some way. The field is a conglomerate of studies and insights built on break-up mechanisms, drop dynamics, and spray characteristics but a unified theory of atomization still escapes scientist and research engineers. An often neglected phenomenon is......

The Decision to Drop the Bomb

...The decision to drop the atomic bomb was very difficult, and extremely important. In the midst of the Pacific War with Japan, the United States president, Harry S. Truman, was left to decide whether or not to use the most powerful weapon at the time. Many Americans had conflicting views, striving to convince each other of their opinion on the topic. For example, while Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Manhattan Project, would obviously try to convince the public that the detonation of the atomic bomb was inevitable, others would disagree, going as far as to send the president petitions to try to prevent the imposing nuclear destruction. Although the American population argued both sides, Harry Truman finally decided to detonate two atomic bombs over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Following this critical decision, approximately 200,000 people perished in the two Japanese cities, leading to the Japanese surrender only a few days later. The three texts that were displayed differed from each other since the first article presented more statistical arguments in the form of logos and the second article presented more ethos and pathos approaches; however, the texts were similar since both of their purposes was to convince the president, or population, of the positive and negative effects of the atomic bomb. Although the other two articles demonstrated powerful arguments, the speech written by Robert Oppenheimer provided a more developed use of logos, pathos, and ethos,......

Drop Out

...Summary: Personal Essay:The Causes and Effect of Dropping out of College. The causes are almost certainly many and consistent. What seems inescapable is the conclusion that dropping out of school is one of the important factors related to the difficulties of people. The causes of dropping out reveal families in trouble. All too often, families with areas of high pressure are characterized by single parents, lack of parenting skills, and substance abuse. The most common causes of dropping out are money, family, and time management. Money or lack of it is a reason to drop out of the school. Once you become a student, you will need money for tuition of the school. My rent is $1,000 per month for a three bedroom apartment. This monthly rent doesn't include the utilities, that is, the electric light, cooking gas, internet service which I used for homework and research. All these services are for separate from the rent every month. As for the clothes, here in New York, we have four different types of seasons .This contributes, to a change to different types of clothing. Car fare cost me biweekly $48.00 .This is for two unlimited metro cards so I could go the school every day, to my jobs, and to pick up my kids up from the day care with out spending extra money daily. Family plays a big role in people dropping out of the school. As a single parent, I put my children's needs above my own. I give them my attention as a loving and caring parent. I also help my kids with their......

Organisms in a Drop of Water

...ABSTRACT Microorganisms are too small to be seen with the unaided eye, therefore, they must be observed with a microscope. Due to the fast innovations and advances in microscopy, we are now capable of examining, determining and observing them. This experiment, which utilized the hay infusion as the residing area of microorganisms, investigated the living organism in a drop of water, their manifestation of the different attributes in life. During the run of the experiment, paramecium and specie 1 were observed and were tested to determine the impact of different stimulus to microorganisms in three setups. At the end of the experiment, the variety of setups has been shown to affect the number and kinds of species seen, such as placing hay infusion in dark and the other one, exposed to sunlight, adding brine and sugar solution on the setups. The third section of this paper will deal with relative number of species observed and seen. This paper tackles how microorganism thrive and exemplify mechanisms for survival in the different setups for comparison Moreover, this proves that even in a small drop of water, still, life can exist and microorganisms prosper. I. INTRODUCTION Life on Earth was said to have begun 3.5 billions of years ago. Until now it is still dominating, counting and adding years to life’s age. For an organism to be considered living or possesses life, they must portray different attributes of life. This include mainly by movement, irritability...
