Final Project Topic Desription

...Final Project Topic Description September 18, 2012 Christine Erwin Final Project Topic Description “Apple, Inc is an American multinational corporation that designs and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers” (Wikipedia, 2012). Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (Cusumano, 2008) founded this multibillion-dollar company in 1976. Apple is the world’s third largest mobile phone device maker and the world’s second largest Smartphone maker (Gartner, 2012). It is the largest technology company in the worth with a net worth more than Microsoft and Google combined (Hughes, 2012). Apple contracts with Chinese Foxconn to manufacture it’s iPads, iPhones, and iPods. Despite difficulties with, few stores, piracy and low app sales, Apple sales in China are only second to those in the US (iPhones make Chinese eyes light up: Apple doesn't just make stuff in China; its sales there are booming, too, 2012). Couple high sales with low labor cost and it is easy to see why Apple chose China as the location of it manufacturing headquarters. Fair labor practice advocates have accused Foxconn of sweatshop-like labor practices. In June of 2012, Foxconn experienced the suicide death of the 18th Foxconn employee in less than two years (Qiang, 2012). While suicide is the most heinous effect of a sweatshop, many advocates are not so quick to denounce sweatshops. According to Porter (2012) , China’s poverty rate has decreased since gaining more industrial jobs. ......

...COURSE PROJECT TOPIC SELECTION BY BETTY TAYLOR INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY SECTION 13 DR.NUTAN MISHRA This research paper is being submitted on January 11, 2014 by Betty Taylor for Introduction to Sociology. The social construction of sexual orientation is of interest to me due to the fact that this has become an issue in society. Throughout time more and more people have been more straight forward with their sexual orientation and in some areas of society have not been accepted for who they are. I myself have had this issue and actually lost a job due to it. The social construction of sexual orientation is based on the symbolic-interaction theory and conflict theory. It is mostly based on the conflict theory due to the conflict it has caused in many areas throughout society. Sociological theories of suicide has had a great impact on many lives throughout time and some of these suicides does affect society as a whole, especially when it is someone who is well known or famous. Every day there is a suicide that takes place in every state or community. There are many different theories to why suicide takes place but in reality no one can really say why someone feels the need to take their own life because with each individual there is always a different motive to it. A sociological theory of suicide goes with both the conflict theory and the symbolic theory because of the kind of impact it has on other people lives. The purpose of poverty in America was one that I......

Over a long period of time, personality has been researched and studied. Theorist for decades have tried to conclude how much of our genetic make-up dictates who we are, but determining its role in our personality as we grow into adults, has been very controversial. According to the theorist Hans Eysenck, he believes that a biological factor influences our personalities. This paper will take a look at the biological theory of Hans Eysenck and what percentage of biology determines our development as adults. As for me, growing up in a very religious home is all too familiar. My grandfather was a preacher, my grandmother an evangelist as well as my mother. So to everyone else, it was only a matter of time that I was passed the torch of preaching and follow in my family’s footsteps. However, to my surprise, as I began to grow, my growth took me far away from the direction of the church. As an adult, even mid-teens, there was no interest (at the time) to be in church or return. Therefore, I began to question myself, why am I so different? Why don’t I have the same desire to preach God’s word? Why doesn’t it bother me not to be a part of a church? Is it......
