To Whom It May Concern:
In addition to my full time position at Thomson Reuters, I teach a course on
Emerging Market Investment Strategies as an Adjunct Professor at the
Columbia School of International Affairs. I had the pleasure of having Tian
Tian as a student in my class last year and would be happy to provide a recommendation on her behalf for the Research Analyst position at the
Peterson Institute for International Economics.
Tian was one of the best students in my class and consistently did A level work on all assignments. The course required term papers on selected countries and her papers on Mongolia and Taiwan were professional caliber.
Both papers required sourcing and analyzing macroeconomic and firm specific data. Her work was technically competent and the presentation provided a nice assessment of the economic prospects and investment opportunities available in these countries.
Tian Tian also regularly contributed to the in-class discussions and consistently made well thought out and insightful comments. Tian Tian and I have remained in communication since she graduated and several times she has made me aware of articles that were of relevance to my class which I much appreciated.
Again, I want to vouch for Tian Tian’s technical competency and also her ability to write and speak in a professional and fluent manner. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide any further information.
Kind Regards,

Moral Responsibilities of Mangers

...Canadian academic, disagreed with the typical view of mangers and found that managers were not the 'robotic paragons of efficiency' that they were usually made out to be (The Economist, 2009), but were figures of authority that had great responsibility to ensure employees were happy, safe and motivated within the workplace. Mintzberg's book, 'the Nature of Managerial Work' looked at the different responsibilities and 'managerial roles' that are enforced on a manager today. He divided the roles into three categories: a)Informational b)Interpersonal and c)Decisional. Interpersonal roles are those important to the moral duties of a manager, and Mintzberg rated these just as highly as administrative duties. These interpersonal duties include role and moral responsibilities included being a “figurehead” for employees i.e. someone the workers can come to for help and who can voice the complaints and opinions of the workers to the board. Other duties include being a “leader” for the employees, and helping to motivate, inspire and guide employees actions, e.g. Through opportunity for promotion and/or rewards for good work. The most important of the interpersonal duties that Mintzberg identified was the role of being a “liaison” and building relationships between the staff and the organisation as well as links between the organisation and outside entities. (McKee, 2012) These duties all epitomise the moral responsibility for a manger to ensure the staff are happy, safe and motivated......

How to Be a Better General Manger

...How to be a better General manger As someone wise said ''start with the end in mind '' before this class I only know what the end was but not the process of push start. for me before class I see it like there was a taxi waiting outside of my house I know I want him to take me to the best places I just did not know how I am going to lead him there. So vivid management class was all about bringing people together and work together to get the job done I just did not know how to bring them to one place work together. Coming from low masculinity highly collectivist country where things are yet in the process of growing people are taught that they must look after one another, guide the young once, remain with old family values and at the end of the day regardless of how a horrible day that you had, saw a young boy get hit by a car or you just came from your daughter’s wedding and she is expecting a baby. You have to share your news with the people that cares about you and they make sure you get the best treatment regardless when you get to the house at all time because they yet not know if you had good or bad news for them always making sure the napkin or the knife is there to cut the cake. In my country Ethiopia there is one thing that takes huge part of peoples day to day life in every corner every town and every single house and for most people it is internet that made the people stay connected with each other instantly so easy you don't even have to meet the......

... typical essay contains many different kinds of information, often located in specialized parts or sections. Even short essays perform several different operations: introducing the argument, analyzing data, raising counterarguments, concluding. Introductions and conclusions have fixed places, but other parts don't. Counterargument, for example, may appear within a paragraph, as a free-standing section, as part of the beginning, or before the ending. Background material (historical context or biographical information, a summary of relevant theory or criticism, the definition of a key term) often appears at the beginning of the essay, between the introduction and the first analytical section, but might also appear near the beginning of the specific section to which it's relevant. It's helpful to think of the different essay sections as answering a series of questions your reader might ask when encountering your thesis. (Readers should have questions. If they don't, your thesis is most likely simply an observation of fact, not an arguable claim.) "What?"  The first question to anticipate from a reader is "what": What evidence shows that the phenomenon described by your thesis is true? To answer the question you must examine your evidence, thus demonstrating the truth of your claim. This "what" or "demonstration" section comes early in the essay, often directly after the introduction. Since you're essentially reporting what you've observed, this is the part you might have most......

The Roles of a Manger Within the Fucntional Areas of Business

...non-profit entities, to small private businesses and within all levels of each organization. An organization is composed of 10 functional areas in which managers play an important role in order to meet the firm’s objectives. I am going to touch upon the various roles a manger plays within these 10 functional areas of a business: Law, Human Resources Management, Leadership, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Research and Statistics, Operations Management, Marketing, and Strategic Planning. The legal department has the responsibilities of protecting the organization from any legal issue, ensuring all aspects of the business are complying with any state laws and federal laws. A manager’s role within the legal department various depended on his position, but ultimately they are the legal experts within organization when legal issues appear and must stay current on key federal, state and local laws and regulations. “HR professional in small to midsize companies often wear many hats. Their time can be spread across staffing functions, employee relations, benefits and compensation, human resources information systems, payroll, organizational development, and even facilities management in some cases” (Post et al., 2010). Mangers within the HR department either directly perform these responsibilities or delegate and oversee.
