INTRODUCTION
The growth of internet and its ever increasing pervasiveness has caused extensive digitization of copyrighted content not limited to a single format and subsequently an increase in online piracy. This combined with the advent of P2P file sharing mechanisms as a massive means of infringement practice has led to a paradigm shift in the approach to copyright infringement. Where unauthorized copying of a work was earlier considered a means of increasing a work’s market by stimulating its network effects, it is today seen as an unfair practice, a hindrance to the content owners and artists creative and financial viability. This shift has seen associations like RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and MPAA
(Motion Picture Association of America) take desperate measures to curb illegal file sharing, the latest means of which is the “Three Strikes Rule” also known as The Graduated Response Plan. This paper starts with a brief overview on why copyright laws are important to content owners and discusses illegal file sharing, its history and the various means used for it. We then discuss the various approaches that representative bodies like RIAA have taken in the past and why the transition to the Graduate Response
Plan, how it operates, its relative advantages and disadvantages to the various set of people involved in the copy right system and finally some mutually beneficial strategies that if implemented can make the
Graduate response System more effective and socially acceptable.

Caltex has improved the life of its current minority employees even though the country itself hasn’t tried to improve the welfare of the rest of the black community. Another benefit is that that expansion project promised an annual return of 20 percent on the original investment, which is good for the shareholders. Finally, the benefit that I see is that Caltex is helping the economy of the South Africa by continuing its oil operations in its country. On the other hand by continuing operations in South Africa, and they are helping the government financially support the mistreatment of the black community. If Standard and Texaco did not build the plant, someone else would, likely a company with less global standards or stake in moral and ethical dilemmas. In this scenario, a fire in the mess hall has developed outside the staffs’ ability to successfully control and snuff out the fire. ...Critical Response Essay Utilitarian Approach: Fred is faced with a difficult decision because he must decide what is more important to him. Is keeping my job more important than contributing to something I don’t agree with? That is the crucial question he must answer. Is that would allow him to keep his job and persuade Greyarea to manufacture less toxic cigarettes. According to the consequentialist theory of Utilitarianism, if he wore to abide by this theory, Fred would respectfully resign from this job. Under principle of utility, the right action is the one that produces the greatest balance of pleasure over pain, or happiness over unhappiness, for everyone affected by that action. The class seemed quite untrammeled but we felt bored later on. Hence, we still needed the instructor to plan activities and evoke our passion so that we could involve ourselves in discussions. ...In response to the reading I found myself open minded to the stereotypical episodes of what a black man goes through. Personally, I found it difficult to relate to because I’m not black or a big man. I can however, imagine through the words of the author what he was feeling as well as what others (victims) were feeling. Then I somehow, found myself recalling times that I too had displayed worry when coming down a dark street, at a club, or even in an empty train cart that would have me alone with a big man, on the other end of it and me feeling like the echoes of the rails would keep me distracted from my fears of something bad happening. For example I can recall a time when I was mugged while walking down my own street. It was during the summer and it was 11pm. I rarely walk the streets at night but this was an exception. My mother’s flight got in last and she was hungry. I decided to walk to the pizza shop at the corner of my street and as I walked down my street I had noticed two men; one black and one white turn the corner together but split up when they saw me. I knew something was going to happen. Sure enough one of them ran towards my purse. WE both spun around and dropped to the sidewalk. And it has provided me with the foundation that I will need to make further advancement in Foreign Language coursework. The instructor, Ms Hoa, works very hard in class to get his ideas across to the students. I really enjoy the way she uses her voice to command students' attention. Ms Hoa is very thorough in lecturing. However, you already knew that we have to practice writing, reading, grammar. I think the pace of this course is hard and fast. the students can not manage their time effectively in order to receive quality materials day-in, day-out. I was reminded of the old adage, "Practice makes perfect”, Those exercise assignments took hours and hours to complete! But we do not have time enough. The pressure on time made it difficult be prepared. I was still surprised at the intensive pressure, especially when the final examination of the semester was approaching. Personally, we should separate 4A and 4B into: Listening and Speaking, Grammar and Writing, and Reading and Vocabulary. And I would like to have seen more real practice given in the lectures. Heart of Darkness centers on Marlow and his journey up on the Congo River to meet Kurtz, a civilizer. His quest reveals dehumanizing effects of colonialism and brutalities meted upon the people of Congo by the company’s agents and, he finally learns the truth about Kurtz, a universal genius. Colonialism, imperialism, savagery verses civilization, and racism are the most common issues explored in the book. My major appreciation of the novel lies in how Conrad presents the theme – the horrors associated with imperialism. His concrete descriptions paint various pictures that make it so real for readers to imagine and feel the pain and trauma of the natives of Congo during the era of colonialism. Imperialism is defined as the policy of forcefully extending a nation’s authority by the establishment of economic and political dominance (The Chambers Dictionary). Some textual evidence of the theme, horrors associated with imperialism, are presented below: Forthwith, the natives were made slaves by their colonial masters and were treated as savages. Learning to drive takes a lot of practice. It is like learning to ride a bike or tying your shoes. You need to keep practicing before you can accomplish the task and actually do it well. Therefore, why do we make it so easy for young, inexperienced drivers to get their license? According to the Insurance Information Institute there should be an extended period of adult supervision before allowing a young driver to get a full driver license. They suggest a young driver be restricted to drive only during the day and only with a capable adult who is age 21 or older and has held a valid driver license for at least two years. We have to ask ourselves, are these guidelines something we can live with? The precious lives of our children are at stake. This is the reason I believe that all states should have a Graduated Driver Licensing Program for teen drivers. I remember when I was 16. I was so excited to have my driver license. My friends and I were going to have our first big night on the town. We did not need to rely on our parents. It felt great. I picked up each of my friends. We decided to take the long route to town.
