...Becoming The Best Student Name GEN/200 Date Professor whoever Becoming The Best Student In life, each person is individually responsible for whether he or she succeed or fail. There are certain factors that can not be overcome, such as having a disability or not having access to a school system. Everyone has the ability to adapt and overcome, and to make the best of his or her own lives. I believe that some people sell themselves short, whether it be laziness or lack of motivation. Three obstacles that can affect a student are time, money, and finding a purpose to achieve a certain goal. To become the best student in college, the person needs to hold himself/herself personally responsible for his/her actions, and to set individual goals. Time Restraints “Each is responsible for his own actions” (H.L. Hunt, 1889-1974). The challenge that is most common when someone is trying to go back to school is time. Everyone is usually so busy juggling work, children, chores, and so on that they believe they do not have enough time to spend focusing on attending a college and doing homework. Finding solutions for this is the best approach. Find what it is you do with your free time that can be diverted toward school. Whether it be Sunday football or bowling with the friends, something can usually be cut out of his/her schedule in order to prioritize for......

...GEN 200 3/3/13 I determined the sources for my essay to be reliable because they came from some credible sites. One of my sources came from a .com website that is from a college library. The other came from a .org which I find reliable as it is a well-established organization. Finally my third choice for a source is a .edu that is from a research institute. I also did a little research on the authors and they were all well established and respected writers which would also make my research more reliable. All three of my selections were relevant because they were all on the same subject of responsibility as my essay is on personal responsibility. My sources were also all fairly recent the oldest of the three was written in 1994 but I still find the information very useful and it still applies with these modern times. The other two sources were a little newer one was written in 2009 and the other was written in 2013. One of my sources which is The Heritage foundation that is a .org website is a very conservative organization and that would tell me that the author would have a bias based on his political views. Another website I used which is Brookings institute is a .edu and their views seem to me are more towards the liberal side and would also have a bias because of their beliefs. My third choice was geared more towards a law standpoint. I think the information I have used in my essay will do more to strengthen my essay because it all backs up my thesis...

...Personal Responsibility GEN/200 August 9, 2012 Personal Responsibility Although many people do not stop to think what personal responsibility really truly means to them, they have never realized that living without it could not only jeopardize their way of life and career goals, but also their relationship with others. I like to believe that I live with personal responsibility every day just to live happily and to help me succeed in my goals. I have set goals in the past and achieved them using my experience as a female veteran and as an adult. It has been proven that if an individual does not have a grip on responsibilities, then they do not have a grip on self-esteem and self-worth (Morling, Rothbaum, & Rusk, 2009). When an individual that does not have personal responsibility, their personal life could really lack fulfillment and pleasure. An individual that is lacking personal responsibility cannot live to their full potential and have everything they have ever wanted on a mental and material level. If a person lacks a main aspect to live the right way, they cannot become satisfied with their life and are not doing anything to take charge of the problems that they have acquired along the way from incompetence. If there is a lack responsibility, then they do not have any confidence (Clouder, 2009). Confidence is a feeling that anyone should have about life as an adult. An individual might find it hard to take charge of their life the way they want to......

...A Moral Dilemma Eric Wiggins Gen 200 Marc Thompson University of Phoenix September 29, 2013 A Moral Dilemma Even though personal responsibility could in the way of having fun all the time, being responsible for yourself makes you an honest and successful person because it helps achieve personal goals and moving forward in your career with dignity. You may ask why I would want to be responsible when I can just skate my way through life. The ethical question why would you want to skate through life? It is time to start being accountable for your actions time to stop wasting away on the easy road through life. A way a student in college can do this is by reminding one’s self that making good choices lead to a fulfilling college experience and teach the difference of right and wrong and help guide future decision making. ------------------------------------------------- An essay that I found in the art of man states “moral reminders are checkpoint that you can use to remind yourself the outcomes of the good choices.” (Brett, 2013). Moral reminders are everywhere from reading class policies to signing the plagiarism agreement at school even the word school is a moral reminder that there are laws and principles guiding how your school is set up the and the laws and principles that govern you in the school. Using moral reminders helps us stay on track to leading a successful, moral and ethically right life Being responsible and owning up to our past......

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Foundations for General Education and Professional Success GEN 200 University of Phoenix Dr. Janice Carter-Steward, Instructor January 25, 2010 We all different. No one person has the same personality or learning style. This is what makes the world uniquely balanced. The mystery is learning to accept and recognize these learning styles and personality types. In various occupations, sometimes we are forced to interactive and collaborate with other individuals that do and see things in very different ways. It is then our goal to identify their strengths and weaknesses that will improve the success of the team and overall work performance. Challenges will always exist among individuals that work together, but having good communication and collaboration will benefit all those involved. Learning styles, personality type and time management used to be merely educational jargons for me. Little did I know that all of those components were directly related to the learning process. While reading and performing various assessments, I have recognized several learning styles, their functions and how they contribute to great team work and support. I have explored the learning skills of The Interpersonal, The Visual-Spatial and The Logical-Mathematical Learners. These individuals bring several needed skills to small groups and team projects. The Interpersonal is one who actually likes and enjoys team......

... Personal Responsibility Madison Techmanski Gen 200 10/02/13 Professor Gingrich Personal Responsibility Even though independence can possibly make you stubborn, being independent is my personal responsibility because it allows you to create a future for yourself and sets you apart from most others. In this essay I will discuss the power that independence has in creating a better future for yourself while showing that you have a strength that most others don’t possess. It is my personal responsibility not only for those reasons but also it was the way I was raised. “Personal responsibility is taught.” (Guthrie, Sarah, 2008, para. 2). I wouldn’t have these skills if I wasn’t taught how to develop them. It can have its downfalls however just like most things do, but they are not weakness that can’t be fixed. Independence is my personal responsibility because it is what drives me in my social and educational life. I have achieved things at my age because of my independence, I am not afraid to travel in uncharted waters or point out flaws in a plan. I am a self-sufficient because I have always learned to do things on my own and to not wait around for things to be done for me. I have had to be self-motivated because my success or failure rests solely on my own shoulders. I use this in my educational life since no one else is going to do it for me, I must finish myself. We are all trying to create a future for ourselves and being independent has helped me to do that. I set goals......

...Money Management Korey A. White GEN/200 November 17, 2010 Abstract Managing money by putting a certain percentage of your income in categorized accounts gives you a better understanding of where your money is going. There are three account types I have chosen for this paper. Financial Independence Account, which is for retirement. The Fun Account, which is used to reward myself for working. Then there is the Life Expenses account used for everyday life activities and needs. Upon reading this paper you will have a clear understanding of how these accounts play a role in helping me manage my money. Money Management Managing my money is my day-to-day problem. When I was in the military, I did not have to worry about money management, because I lived on base and ate for free. So the only bills I had were my car payment and my cell phone bill. Because of those being the only bills I had, I was able to go out and splurge and buy whatever I wanted. Now that I am no longer in the military that way of living has stuck with me even though I have more responsibility and less money. After doing some research on how I can start managing my money, I have found three main ways to help me with money management. They are Financial Independence Account, Fun Account, and a Life Expenses Account. Although it is possible to manage money effectively, managing money is difficult when I spend it as fast as I receive it. Developing a Financial Independence Account will......

...Personal Responsibility is Essential for Success John Smith Gen 200 January 25, 2014 Professor Charles Shapiro Lack of personal responsibility will keep some people from achieving goals and dreams. Personal responsibility creates the foundation for success, successful behaviors, and not being dependent on others for success. Some people will blame other individuals or circumstances that may arise instead of their deficient level of personal responsibility for their lack of success. Three main components of personal responsibility that are the core to achieving academic success are time management, stress management, and health. Without following these few key points academics can be more of a challenge than it should be. Taking responsibility for one’s actions is the first step towards building a solid foundation for one’s success. It is likely that one will make some wrong choices, but it is in making wrong decisions that create opportunities to learn valuable lessons. When one admits to being wrong, it creates a vulnerability that is needed to grow in decision-making. Being honest is what will set one free to be able to learn more about one’s self and to become better. Ellis (2011) found “ The principle of telling the truth is applied universally by people who want to turn their lives around” (p. 25). All of these self-evaluation practices will be ineffective without taking action. It is like having a combination to a lock and never using the combination to open......

...Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence GEN/200 Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence Johnson Pope, an English poet, said, “Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.” However, I definitely do not have that quality. Self-confidence describes a person who has faith on themselves. A problem that affects me every day is my lack of self-confidence. My self-confidence affects me in my decision making, career, and social skills. It also affects me when I am passing up opportunities that can be rewarding. An example how my self-confidence affects me is when I will not stand a chance competing against another person. I do not do well in a challenge. I give in easily. I doubt about myself and my abilities to do any task. The fear of rejection and failure hunts me every day. My lack of self-confidence overly preoccupies me with what others think. What I need to do is build confidence and take charge of my life to overcome my problem. One of the methods I can use to work on my self-confidence is looking for a support group. They are a lot of internet support groups or blogs about self-confidence that I can rely for support. I feel that if I can share my feelings without face-to-face time, I can open up more to my feelings and assist me better. Another place that I can use to gather information is to see a Psychologist. Psychologists are trained individuals and with a tremendous amount of experience that can be use in......

...Personal Ethical Statement Corrie Robinson GEN/200 7/12/2014 LaTishia Wheaton MS/AJS Personal Ethical Statement My preferred ethical lens is results and reputation. People who have this lens are reported to listen to their intuition, and to determine the greater good for everyone’s character traits and virtues that will better serve the community. My blind spot is unrealistic role expectations. Meaning that I tend to not be accountable to those who depend on me as long as I have satisfied my own needs. This behavior leads to complacency, leaving problems unresolved in the long-term, and leaving people on their own fending for themselves. I also tend to rely too heavily on virtues associated with people’s roles in life forgetting that people are human and can make mistakes despite their role. According to my ethical lens, I show strength in free will and compassion. I contribute self-reliance and accountability to my environment. I am not afraid to pursue my passions. I also like to help and encourage the people that are around me to pursue their passion’s as well. According to my ethical lens, I also possess the ability to put myself in other people’s shoes and take an objective view of their personal lives and challenges while living my own life and fulfilling my personal responsibilities within my role. If I don not assure myself that everyone has free will, I run the risk of reducing my decisions off of narrow and financial......
