DIGITALIZATION OF TRANSPORT SYSTEM THROUGH E-TICKETING IS A BARREN PROJECT NOW

To mitigate the hazard of the commuters and to nullify the debauchery in transport system, government has already introduced e-ticketing system for BRTC and for Bangladesh Railway primarily. But the viability of this project has already been shattered due to abeyance of the ticket use and gainsay of the transport workers.

The e-ticketing system named S-pass has been launched under Dhaka Transport Authority based on ICT for four bus routes of BRTC and one commuter train for Bangladesh Railway including two hospitals with the technical support from JICA .Though the premonition was that income of BRTC would increase by 33 percent using the e-ticket, the use of the card has been stopped after completion of the project.

Experts said that the approach was not desultory for the project, but the mendacious act and non-cooperation of the transport workers inured the progress of the success of this project. The propensity of the officials towards analog ticketing and un-acceptance involved in ticket selling made the S-pass a non-popular among commuters. BTRC,s income is however implicit when asked to an official for the data and they get only a lump sum of money .

Though the e-Ticketing service was launched in different routes, at present it is only running in AC service of the BRTC run buses between Gazipur-Motijheel as its ticket counters and stoppages are maintained.Vendor of the e-ticketing service named N-wave Co. Said that only 1000 t0 1500 tickets are used daily out of the tickets that has been distributed. I could also break down the observations a bit more by laying out sizes of the units compared to my apartment and see if it is possible to fit everything inside while still able to live comfortably or get rid of some items. My first observation is that one of my storage units is small and would not take up a lot of room. I also have a lot of extra items in my unit that I could donate to family or thrift shops for a good tax write off down the road.
